Haberman Downplays Biden Corruption, Criticizes Trump Family's Cryptocurrency Deal

Share

New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman downplayed allegations of corruption against the Biden family during an interview. She was asked to explain World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency company formed by Donald Trump's sons in 2024. The company had been previously dismissed by Trump as a scam.

Haberman acknowledged that Hunter Biden and his father were accused of influence peddling with paintings, which she described as 'those are paintings.' However, she noted that the scale of self-enrichment by the sitting president was unprecedented.

Trump's sons formed World Liberty Financial with two individuals who had questionable investment histories. The company took a 49% stake in World Liberty Financial three days before Trump's inauguration. This was only discovered after extensive reporting by The Wall Street Journal and other outlets.

Haberman criticized the lack of transparency in this deal, stating that 'it's just unheard of.' She also noted that Trump's sons have shown interest in investing in industries they have no prior experience with, such as the defense industry. World Liberty Financial is now applying for a bank charter controlled by their father's government.
