SBI Tracability has introduced its blockchain-based tracking service, SHIMENAWA, to the premium whiskey brand 'Tengoku' from Hakutsuru Sake Brewery.

The introduction of SHIMENAWA aims to enhance transparency and authenticity in the sales process by using IC tags (RFID/NFC) and blockchain technology. This enables consumers to verify the product's genuineness and check its usage history through a dedicated app without having to access any additional information.

Hakutsuru Sake Brewery has integrated SHIMENAWA into their 'Tengoku' whiskey, which will be available for purchase starting September 4. The company believes that this move will address the increasing need for authenticity and transparency in the Japanese whiskey market, particularly with the growing demand from overseas.

This is not the first time SBI Tracability has implemented SHIMENAWA. Other companies such as oil brewery 'Mizuhana' and wine producer 'Sakagyo' have also adopted this technology to track their products.
