Hana Bank has made significant strides in the digital bond market by issuing a $100 million five-year foreign-currency digital bond through Euroclear's blockchain-based D-FMI platform. The transaction, completed on September 18, shortened settlement from three-to-five business days to same-day processing.

The bond was issued under Hana Bank's global medium-term note documentation, with Standard Chartered serving as the sole lead manager. Investors can trade the digital bond through existing Euroclear accounts without adopting separate trading systems.

This deal is significant not only because it achieved same-day settlement but also because it connected the digital security to established institutional market infrastructure. Hana Bank used its existing global medium-term note framework for the issuance, which has been a key aspect of their expansion into digital assets.
