Hana Card Deepens Stablecoin Cooperation with Tether Partnership
Hana Card, a South Korean financial services company, has strengthened its ties with Tether, the issuer of the USDT dollar stablecoin. The two companies signed a three-party memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hana Bank to explore connections between stablecoins and South Korean financial services.
The move is part of Hana Card's efforts to expand its digital-asset business. Last year, it signed a strategic business agreement with Circle, the issuer of the USDC dollar stablecoin. In March, it carried out a stablecoin payment marketing campaign with Crypto.com, offering cashback to foreign visitors to South Korea when they paid at domestic merchants.
Hana Financial Group has been aggressively expanding its digital-asset business through partnerships and registrations. It recently established BitGo Korea with global digital-asset custody firm BitGo and completed VASP registration approval last month.
