Harmony Seeks New Path on Ethereum After Security Breach
Harmony has announced that it will shut down its mainnet on September 9-10, 2026, and migrate its ONE token to Ethereum as an ERC-20 token. This decision comes after a major security breach in August 2026 compromised the network's consensus layer, resulting in a rollback and loss of market value.
Token holders are advised to withdraw their assets from smart contracts like liquidity pools and multisig wallets before the deadline, as these will not be migrated. Balances in regular wallets and exchanges will be automatically credited on Ethereum.
Delegated stakes and rewards will move to governance treasuries unless undelegated before the cut-off date. Users are urged to check exchange notices and act promptly to avoid losses.
