Hashdex Cancels DEFI Bitcoin ETF Amid Weak Investor Demand
Hashdex will close its DEFI Bitcoin ETF on August 17 after a limited number of investors showed interest in the product. The fund's decision to discontinue the ETF is part of a broader effort by Hashdex to refine its investment lineup and focus on strategies with stronger demand.
The asset manager will continue serving U.S. investors through its remaining offerings, which collectively manage more than $200 million. Despite the closure of the DEFI Bitcoin ETF, shareholders who retain their positions until the final trading session will receive a cash distribution around August 28.
Hashdex's decision to close the fund was based on various factors, including trading activity, operating costs, liquidity, investor participation, and product strategy. The company managed approximately $14.7 million in DEFI assets as of July 30.
