Hashdex Closes U.S. Bitcoin ETF Amid Weak Investor Demand

Hashdex will close its U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF on August 17 due to weak investor demand, marking what appears to be the first closure of a U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund. The product holds $14.7 million in net assets, which is far below other spot bitcoin ETFs.

The closure does not signal a broader retreat from the U.S. spot bitcoin ETF market, as the category still holds $77.6 billion in net assets and continues to see significant cumulative inflows.

Hashdex plans to liquidate its Bitcoin ETF after August 17, sell the fund's remaining Bitcoin holdings, and distribute cash proceeds to shareholders.
