HashKey Leads Asian Charge into DTCC Tokenization Service
HashKey Group has become the first Asian digital asset service provider to join the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation's (DTCC) Digital Assets Advisory Services Industry Working Group. This admission comes as DTCC prepares to launch standardized tokenization services in October 2026.
DTCC's infrastructure safeguards over $114 trillion in assets, making it a crucial player in the financial industry. The working group advises DTCC on how tokenized securities can be issued, transferred, settled, and safeguarded through institutional market infrastructure.
HashKey operates digital asset trading, asset management, and blockchain infrastructure across regulated markets in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, and Bermuda. With a license from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission for retail crypto trading, HashKey is well-positioned to shape how Asian-listed assets fit into DTCC's tokenization standards.
The October service launch will include compliance and distribution controls for tokenized securities, which has raised questions about whether these instruments will attract institutional demand or remain a proof-of-concept exercise. With over 100 financial institutions and digital asset companies participating in the working group, there is clear appetite for tokenization. However, it remains to be seen if this translates into actual trading volume on tokenized securities.
