A resident of Haverford reported losing $4,000 after being defrauded in a Bitcoin-based gold stock scheme on September 19. The victim initially invested in the stock via a referral and a provided URL code, but was unable to withdraw funds after successful initial transactions.

This is not an isolated incident, as a recent trend of scams involving cryptocurrencies has been reported in the area. On the same day, a backpack containing shoes, school supplies, and a laptop were stolen from a bench in the locker room at the YMCA on North Eagle Road.
