Hayes Sees Money Printing Boosting Crypto Prices as Wall Street Moves Onchain

Share

Arthur Hayes, chief investment officer at Maelstrom fund, believes that US policymakers may lift cryptocurrency prices by printing more money to support AI and finance government debt. He made this statement during a fireside chat at CONNECT by Cointelegraph: Seoul Edition.

Hayes noted that AI companies need trillions of dollars to finance data centers, even as the prices of their services fall. This has led him to conclude that policymakers have 'not really given themselves a lot of options other than print money and make it less bad.'

Hayes also discussed a possible shift in China from an 'austerity lite' policy to substantial monetary stimulus, which he said could revive demand for scarce assets.

Coinciding with Hayes' views on AI and money printing is the growing trend of Wall Street moving onto blockchain platforms. This move gives banks and asset managers an advantage over companies that must attract investors from scratch, as they bring their existing customer base to these markets.
