Hayes Takes Loss as Crypto Market Slides
Former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes sold 2,364.38 ETH for $4.3 million in USDC on August 1, resulting in a possible loss of $241,000, according to tracking platform Lookonchain.
The sale occurred as the cryptocurrency market declined by approximately 2% within the past 24 hours, with Bitcoin trading around $63,000 and Ether falling to $1,860.
This transaction marks a significant loss for Hayes, who had bought ETH at an average price of $1,923 per coin between July 15 and July 28, and later sold them at $1,821 each.
Hayes' decision to liquidate his investments has sparked discussions about how investors adapt to market downturns.
Ethereum's staking queue has increased to approximately 43 days, with 41.2 million ETH, or around 33.8% of the circulating supply, currently staked.
