Hegotá Seen as Potential Last Normal Fork Before Ethereum's Quantum Leap
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin believes that the Hegotá upgrade scheduled for 2027 may be the last 'normal' fork before the network shifts towards more advanced technologies.
Hegotá is planned to introduce features and technology still recognizable to someone familiar with Ethereum in 2015, marking a significant milestone in the network's evolution.
According to Buterin, PeerDAS, which allows nodes to verify data availability by sampling portions of data, marked the beginning of this transition towards a 'cryptographic world computer.'
This shift could change how Ethereum applications are built, with more computation moving offchain and the base layer verifying results, settling transactions, and preserving access to shared onchain state.
