Hijacked Kylie Jenner Account Promotes Memecoin That Crashes 90%
Kylie Jenner's X account was compromised on August 24, 2026, allowing hackers to promote a Solana memecoin called 'kylie' that briefly reached a market cap of $1.21 million before crashing more than 90%.
The posts went up on Monday night and racked up approximately 83,000 combined views before they were deleted. During this time, the token's market cap spiked to its peak value.
This is not an isolated incident - it's the third time in a matter of weeks that a verified X account has been hijacked to launch a memecoin. On July 12, hackers took over SpaceX and Starlink accounts, promoting a token called SCATMAN. Eleven days later, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's account was compromised to shill a fake token called Vladhood.
The attackers used the same playbook each time: hijacking a verified account with a large following, using Pump.fun to create and promote the tokens, and exploiting Solana's low fees to quickly move funds. This combination allowed them to reap significant profits before the accounts were secured.
