HKDAP Stablecoin Launch Tests Hong Kong's Regulated Framework

Anchorpoint, backed by Standard Chartered and Animoca Brands, has launched HKDAP, a stablecoin pegged to the Hong Kong dollar. The initial rollout is restricted to institutional distributors, corporate clients, and professional investors before expanding to individual users.

The launch serves as a critical stress test for Hong Kong's regulated stablecoin framework. Anchorpoint secured its license from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority in April and designed HKDAP as a utility for payment and settlement rather than a speculative asset.

Every token maintains a 1:1 peg to the Hong Kong dollar, backed by high-quality liquid reserves. The immediate goal is to prove the utility of 24-hour blockchain settlement, with use cases including cross-border transfers and the clearing of tokenized financial instruments.
