The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is re-opening its 7-year RMB bonds with a tender on August 13, 2026. The HKMA will hold a RMB1.25 billion tender for the 7-year institutional government bonds under its Infrastructure Bond Programme. This re-opening aims to support infrastructure financing and offshore RMB markets.

The existing bonds have a coupon rate of 1.78% per annum and mature on June 29, 2033. The semi-annualized yield is 1.627%, with semi-annual interest payments. The tender process is open exclusively to Primary Dealers under the program, with a minimum bid size of RMB50,000.

The proceeds from the bonds will fund infrastructure projects in line with the government's Infrastructure Bond Framework. This aligns with Hong Kong's dual goals of financing sustainable development and reinforcing its position as a leading offshore RMB bond hub.
