Hong Kong is taking steps to cement its position as a leading hub for digital assets. According to Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui, the city will pilot the tokenization of Exchange Fund Bills by the end of 2026.
The move marks a significant step in establishing Hong Kong's market infrastructure for digital assets. The pilot is part of a broader effort to promote fintech and digital assets as core growth drivers for the city.
Hong Kong has been positioning itself as a key player in the region's digital asset landscape, with initiatives such as licensing virtual asset trading platforms and stablecoin issuers.
