Horizen Mainnet Users Can Now Stake ZEN with ETH Gas
To stake ZEN on Horizen Mainnet, users need to have both ZEN tokens and a small amount of ETH for gas. If assets are stored on Base or a Centralized Exchange (CEX), they must first bridge them over to Horizen.
Before beginning the staking process, ensure you have the following ready: A Web3 Wallet installed, such as MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet, with ETH and ZEN tokens on Base, ready to be bridged and staked. Detailed instructions for each step are provided below.
The first step is to add the Horizen network and token to your wallet by navigating to the Horizen Staking Landing Page, clicking Connect Wallet in the top-right corner, and following the onboarding panel's instructions. This includes adding the Horizen Mainnet RPC to your wallet and importing the native ZEN token contract address.
Once your wallet is set up, bridge ETH from Base to cover initial gas fees by using the Stargate interface or heading directly to https://bridge.horizen.io/. Select the direction: Base → Horizen, enter the amount of ETH, click Transfer Tokens and confirm. The process takes ~1-2 minutes.
Next, bridge ZEN from Base to Horizen by returning to the onboarding panel and clicking Bridge ZEN from Base. Connect your wallet and transfer your ZEN tokens from Base → Horizen. The fee is 0.06% + Base gas; it takes ~2 minutes.
After successfully bridging both ETH and ZEN, scroll down to the My Position panel, select the Stake tab, enter the amount of ZEN you wish to lock up, or click the MAX button to stake your full balance. Approve token spending in your wallet, confirm the stake, and confirm the transaction prompt inside your connected wallet.
Once the transaction is confirmed on-chain, your staked balance and real-time yield will immediately update under My Position. Users can claim rewards by clicking Claim to pull earned yield into their wallet without disturbing their staked principal.
