Hoskinson Defends Cardano Decentralization Amid Adoption Pressure
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has rejected demands to take responsibility for driving adoption of his decentralized network. In a recent tweet, Hoskinson clarified that he leads Input Output Global (IOG), the research and engineering company that helped build Cardano, but has no official role within the network.
Hoskinson's response came after a market commentator urged him to focus on developers, trading activity, and everyday uses to boost adoption. The commentator also questioned Hoskinson's attention to subjects outside his core expertise, prompting Hoskinson to clarify that founders are not slaves and that community members misunderstand his role.
The Cardano network has faced scrutiny over its performance, with the ADA token trading near $0.2491 on October 1, about 92% below its 2021 record high of $3.10. Despite this, Hoskinson remains optimistic about Cardano's prospects and has said that ADA could return to the top ten cryptocurrencies by market value before the end of 2026.
Several projects are continuing to develop on the Cardano network, including Ouroboros Leios, which aims to help process more transactions, and RealFi, which develops financial products that connect crypto capital with assets such as loans and government debt. Petrobras is also testing Cardano for sustainable aviation fuel claims through a research project with PUC-Rio's Ledger Labs and the Cardano Foundation.
