Hoskinson Predicts Failure: Clarity Bill Stalls Amid Bipartisan Consensus Issues
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson said that the recent failure of the Clarity bill in the U.S. Senate was expected due to a lack of bipartisan consensus. The bill aimed to address digital asset market structure but failed to secure the necessary 60 votes, with all Democrats and four Republican senators voting against it.
Hoskinson had previously warned that the crypto industry's political standing had weakened as it became associated with celebrity-themed tokens, memecoins, and speculative trading. He believed this would make it difficult to push through comprehensive crypto legislation.
In a follow-up livestream, Hoskinson explained that Congress tried to pack too many regulatory issues into a single bill and failed to build enough bipartisan consensus in advance. He cited the Stem Cell Freedom Act as an example of how broad consultations and negotiations can lead to successful legislation.
