Hoskinson's Midnight Token Skyrockets Amid Rising Demand for Privacy Coins
Charles Hoskinson's Midnight Token has seen significant gains in recent times. The token, NIGHT, has risen by over 235% from its lowest level this year and is now trading near its highest point since March. Its market capitalization has increased to over $812 million, making it the 74th largest coin globally.
The surge can be attributed to the ongoing demand for privacy tokens, as seen in the rally of Zcash (ZEC), Monero (XMR), and Dash (DASH). Additionally, Weiss Crypto's positive review of Midnight, predicting it will be a major player in 24 months, has also contributed to its growth. Hoskinson himself stated that he believes Midnight will become bigger than Zcash due to its advanced features.
However, despite the optimism surrounding Midnight, there are concerns about its ecosystem. DeFi Llama, an aggregator that tracks various chains and projects, does not list any projects built using Midnight's technology. Instead, Arc and Robinhood Chain have attracted significant attention with over $562 million and $1.05 billion in assets respectively.
Cardano (ADA), another project led by Hoskinson, has been criticized for its lack of activity despite its large market capitalization. Its total value locked stands at just $65 million, much lower than newer chains like Arc and Robinhood Chain.
