Hoskinson's UN Push for Blockchain Privacy Ignites Identity Shift in Crypto
Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of Ethereum and founder of Cardano, recently addressed the United Nations on the importance of blockchain privacy and digital identity. He emphasized that selective disclosure could allow users to verify information without revealing unnecessary personal details.
Hoskinson's comments highlighted the potential for blockchain-based systems to address the issue of over-identification in digital services. Verifications are often time-consuming and ask users for more information than is needed, which can be problematic as digital services become increasingly dependent on user identification.
Aster, a decentralized perpetual trading platform, has implemented mechanisms that restrict public disclosure of trading information. Arbitrum, a Layer 2 chain built on top of Ethereum, offers high-speed transactions and could provide space for identity and privacy apps to run. Aptos, a blockchain layer 1, enables scalable applications and could support future identity applications.
Litecoin remains focused on digital payments but is included in the broader context of blockchain infrastructure development. Polkadot has created an infrastructure that supports interoperability, enabling various blockchain networks to connect within its system, which can enable verification without revealing too much personal information.
