Hougan Reaffirms Top Crypto Picks Amid Bull Cycle

Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan appeared on the New Era Finance Podcast, where he discussed the most important names in the current bull cycle of the cryptocurrency market. According to Hougan, Bitcoin ($BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Chainlink ($LINK) are still the 'four most important names' in the market, despite new projects entering the scene.

Hougan noted that Hyperliquid (HYPE) has become a strong candidate to join this group, while Zcash (ZEC) represents the privacy theme and Venice represents the artificial intelligence theme. He expressed his positive view on Chainlink, stating that its core protocol operations are strong and could support the $LINK token.

Hougan also emphasized the importance of token economies in the cryptocurrency sector, arguing that protocols need to be able to pass on revenue earned to token holders, create buyback or reinvestment mechanisms, and be more transparent in token unlocking processes. He considers Bitcoin as 'digital gold' and believes that if investors shift a portion of their portfolios to rare assets like Bitcoin and gold, a massive influx of capital into $BTC could occur.
