House Committee Advances Bill Establishing Bitcoin Reserve and Digital Asset Stockpile
The U.S. House Financial Services Committee has advanced a bill that establishes a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a separate U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile within the Treasury Department.
The American Reserve Modernization Act of 2026, H.R. 8957, was voted on by the committee on September 16, with 28 members in favor and 21 opposed.
The bill requires federal agencies to report all digital assets they currently hold within 60 days of enactment, and the Treasury Department will take custody of these assets within 30 days after that.
XRP is included in the U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile category alongside other non-Bitcoin assets, marking a significant step forward for institutional recognition of the cryptocurrency.
