The House Ways and Means Committee has approved a new crypto tax bill, dubbed H.R. 10357, by a vote of 38-5. The legislation aims to create a federal tax framework for digital assets, rewriting parts of the Internal Revenue Code.

Crypto tax bill supporters argue that it balances relief with oversight of digital-asset markets. Committee leaders called the vote a milestone for the panel.

The bill preserves several existing tax principles for digital assets, including wash sale and constructive sale provisions, mining and staking income, and new broker reporting requirements for digital-asset transactions.
