HTX-Linked Wallets Send Unsolicited Transfers to Exchanges

Kraken, a major cryptocurrency exchange, has reported that nearly 12,000 small unsolicited transfers from wallets linked to HTX (formerly Huobi) hit customer deposit addresses between August 17 and August 24. This resulted in some accounts being temporarily locked.

The disputed wallet appears on HTX's proof of reserves disclosure, and a similar wave of dust affected Binance, Coinbase, and OKX customers a week earlier.

HTX has denied sending the transfers, despite its head of markets confirming that the exchange opened an internal investigation into them. Kraken believes that the goal of these 'dusting attacks' is to plant sanctioned funds inside customer accounts, triggering account freezes as per their compliance rules.
