HTX Wallet Rotation and Stablecoin Collapse Spark Concerns

The cryptocurrency market began July 22 with a lack of clear direction, with Bitcoin moving sideways and Ethereum attempting to grow. The day's main news came from three areas: sanctions control, DeFi security, and digital nomad communities.

HTX, the platform that was added to the UK Foreign Office sanctions list in May 2026 for allegedly circumventing restrictions against Russia, regularly changes its wallets. This tactic makes static address lists almost useless for sanctions screening, as new addresses may not be filtered in time. TRM Labs suggests focusing on behavioral analysis to link new wallets to sanctioned entities.

Balance Coin, an algorithmic stablecoin, collapsed by over 99% after an exploit related to the manipulation of an abnormally low oracle price for Bitcoin on Binance. The attacker was able to liquidate collateral in several BTCB vaults and exchange the extracted assets for a profit.
