HTX Wallets Behind Small Transfers Trigger Sanctions Alarm at Kraken

Thousands of small transfers on cryptocurrency exchange Kraken have triggered sanctions alarms after it was discovered that approximately 12,000 transactions ranging from a few cents to a few dollars were made between August 17-24. The transfers originated from wallets labeled as belonging to HTX and were directed towards Kraken-linked addresses.

The compliance team at Kraken temporarily restricted access to some user accounts due to the potential association with sanctioned funds, although it's not clear who is behind these transactions. According to Arkham Intelligence, each of the transfers was very small in value.

Kraken suspects that the intent may have been to spread sanctioned funds across different platforms, triggering account restrictions once the funds reached customer deposit addresses. The exchange has stated that they are working with authorities to investigate this matter and restore access to affected accounts while holding the sanctioned funds.
