Hut 8 Secures Poolin's Texas Data Centers with $140M Bid
Hut 8 has emerged as the winner of the bankruptcy auction for Poolin's two Texas data centers, securing them with a $140 million bid. The sale still requires approval from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey, which will consider it on September 29.
This acquisition adds to Hut 8's existing footprint in Texas, where it already controls about 1.5 gigawatts of power capacity across operating and under-development sites. The purchase comes at a time when grid access has become a highly valuable asset for both AI infrastructure and bitcoin mining.
Prior to this auction, Hut 8 reported that its contracted IT capacity in the second quarter was 949 MW, estimated to be worth $26.6 billion in base-term contracts. The company has also secured $7.5 billion in investment-grade financing so far.
