Hut 8 Wins Texas Data Center Auction with $140M Bid
Bitcoin miner Hut 8 has emerged as the winning bidder for two data centers in Texas after offering a total of $140 million. The bid is approximately 2.7 times the combined minimum price of $52 million.
The facilities, owned by mining pool Poolin, were put up for sale following the company's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in late July. Poolin's liabilities total about $173 million, with a significant portion ($164 million) tied to unsecured IOUs issued to wallet users.
