HYPE Corrects 5.24% Following Record Highs
Hyperliquid (HYPE) has experienced a correction after reaching new all-time highs, dropping by approximately 5.24% in the last 24 hours. The price fell from around $88.04 on September 7th to about $84.37 on September 8th. This decline comes after a significant rally of over 60% in the past month, driven by ETF inflows and institutional accumulation.
The correction is attributed to profit taking and market positioning, rather than new fundamental shocks. A large whale sold around 114k HYPE (approximately $10M) on September 7th, pushing the price down more than 1.5% in a short window. This sale was accompanied by crowded long positions near current levels.
Despite the correction, the broader narrative remains aggressive, with Hyperliquid's leading on-chain perp volume, annual revenue projection of around $193M via AQA v2, and daily buybacks of roughly $527k remaining strong. The upcoming unlock of $860M to $1.2B in September is also a key factor in traders' minds.
Buyback and burn behavior has been aggressive, with Hyperliquid buying and burning around 15,350 HYPE in a single day at an average price of $86.17. This supports the idea that structural demand remains robust despite short-term event risk.
