HYPE Surges 50% as CFTC Discussions Spark Regulatory Hope
Hyperliquid's native token HYPE surged nearly 50% in August after President Trump mentioned that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is working to bring Hyperliquid into the US 'in a fully compliant and legal fashion'. This statement, made at a White House gathering of crypto and finance executives, sent HYPE and associated ETFs sharply higher within hours. The CFTC hasn't published any rule, timeline, or framework, but discussions are underway.
The rally was not just due to the news cycle. Hyperliquid's underlying business performance explains why investors were primed to react strongly. In the first half of 2026, the protocol generated $419 million in fee revenue, a jump of around 31% year-over-year, while daily active users climbed by roughly 90%. Cumulative trading volume on the platform has now crossed $1.29 trillion.
The combination of real revenue growth, expanding market share, fresh institutional inflows, and a genuine regulatory tailwind has given HYPE one of its strongest setups of the year. Traders are watching to see if HYPE can decisively clear its prior all-time high and hold above it, rather than repeating the pattern from earlier this summer.
