Hyperliquid Activates USDC Reserve-Yield Payments for HYPE Buybacks
Hyperliquid has activated a new revenue stream, receiving $14.58 million in USDC reserve-yield payments. This is the first distribution under the AQAv2 framework, which directs approximately 90% of eligible net yield from USDC reserves to Hyperliquid's Assistance Fund, earmarked for HYPE token buybacks.
The USDC reserve-yield payments are a new source of revenue for Hyperliquid, distinct from trading fees, which depend on market activity. The reserve-yield mechanism relies on the quantity of USDC deployed and prevailing interest rates, allowing for stablecoin balances to generate income even in periods of low trading volumes.
The first $14.58 million payment, received on October 3, has not yet been transferred to the Assistance Fund and is awaiting deployment for HYPE purchases. The new revenue stream will sit alongside Hyperliquid's existing buyback engine, with the first payment representing roughly 26% of the September fee-funded HYPE purchases, estimated at approximately $55.67 million.
