Hyperliquid and Pump.fun Dominate Crypto Buyback Market with Record $638M Spend
Two crypto entities, Hyperliquid and Pump.fun, have dominated the token buyback market in 2026. According to recent data, they account for nearly 90% of the record $638 million spent on buybacks this year.
Hyperliquid, a decentralized perpetuals exchange, has been routing approximately 99% of its eligible fees into an Assistance Fund for buying and burning HYPE tokens. Pump.fun, a Solana-based memecoin launchpad, has allocated 50% of its designated revenue to PUMP token buybacks.
This trend highlights the growing adoption of revenue-funded token repurchases as a mechanism for supply reduction among large on-chain protocols. Market pricing suggests significant buyback activity by Hyperliquid and Pump.fun may indicate confidence in these tokens.
As observers, it's essential to look for continued buyback announcements from both entities, which could further influence market perceptions and pricing. Potential catalysts such as major partnerships or institutional interest might shift sentiment positively towards Hyperliquid's price targets.
