Hyperliquid HYPE Nears Record High Amid Crypto Market Struggles
Hyperliquid's token, HYPE, is trading at $93 as of October 5, 2026, just 5% away from its all-time high of $98. This places HYPE in a unique position within the cryptocurrency market, where major coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum are still far from their peak prices. Bitcoin is 32% below its high of $126,080, while Ethereum is 45% below its peak of $4,946. Other significant cryptocurrencies like XRP and Solana are even further from their records, requiring gains of 46% or more to reach new highs.
Hyperliquid's strong performance can be attributed to its busy perpetual futures exchange and substantial revenue, which reached about $429 million by mid-September 2026. The launch of spot HYPE ETFs by Bitwise and Grayscale in May 2026 has also provided regulated exposure for U.S. investors. Additionally, Hyperliquid's Assistance Fund has spent over $1.3 billion buying HYPE, while the core team has claimed only 3.2 million of the 405 million unlocked tokens through March 2026.
Despite its impressive rally, HYPE's price increase has slowed recently, gaining about 11% in the past month compared to its 90% annual increase. The approaching $98 mark may face resistance from sellers who bought near the previous peak. Furthermore, the monthly token unlock could introduce around $920 million in new supply at the current price, potentially stalling HYPE's push to a new record.
The outlook for HYPE remains positive, with a strong possibility of breaking through the $98 mark before the end of 2026. However, investors should watch for a daily close above $98 as a significant indicator. If HYPE can hold above $93 and the upcoming token unlock remains modest, it could challenge the record soon. Conversely, a significant token unlock or a dip in trading fees could pull HYPE back under that threshold.
