Hyperliquid Integrates with Bloomberg Terminal for DeFi Monitoring
Hyperliquid, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol, has made a significant stride by integrating its data into the Bloomberg Terminal under the ticker WSL HYPE
On October 3, 2026, Hyperliquid distributed $14.6 million in USDC via its AQAv2 mechanism, with 90% of this yield directed to the Hyperliquid Assistance Fund. This fund holds approximately 45 million HYPE tokens acquired for around $1.1 billion and is tasked with executing buybacks and burns to manage token supply. The protocol's aggressive capital return model, which includes routing 97% of net protocol fees toward the Assistance Fund, gives it an annual buyback capacity exceeding $900 million.
Despite its technical capabilities, including a 0.07-second block time and support for over 100,000 orders per second, Hyperliquid faces regulatory and competitive challenges. Its market share in on-chain perpetual futures has declined from 70% to between 30% and 35% due to rivals like Aster, EdgeX, and Lighter. Additionally, Hyperliquid has filed a petition with the CFTC seeking approval for regulated U.S. energy perpetual contracts, a move opposed by industry incumbents like the CME Group and ICE.
The protocol's actual scale is uncertain due to varying revenue estimates, with figures ranging from $193 million to $880 million annually. Daily trading volumes typically range between $3 billion and $7 billion, with a cumulative perpetual volume of $5.38 trillion. As Hyperliquid navigates these challenges, its ability to maintain dominance in the evolving DeFi landscape remains a key question.
