Hyperliquid Seeks to Outpace Solana in Crypto Growth by 2030
Hyperliquid has seen a significant surge in value this year, rising by 266% to trade at $93 as of September 27, 2026. This growth outpaces that of Solana, which is down about 2.7%, currently valued at $124. The contrast between the two cryptocurrencies raises questions about their respective growth potential by 2030.
While Hyperliquid's rise isn't tied to broader market trends, Bitcoin has declined about 3.7% this year, its sharp volatility shows it can shift quickly. Over the past 60 days, HYPE has jumped 70%, up 47.6% over 90 days, indicating a volatile and rapidly changing market.
When comparing investment returns, $1,000 invested in HYPE on January 1 is now worth around $3,660, while the same amount in SOL has dropped to roughly $973. Solana's recovery took longer to materialize, but it rebounded by 67.8% in the following months.
Hyperliquid and Solana serve distinct purposes in the crypto ecosystem: Hyperliquid operates as a blockchain-based trading exchange enabling public order recording, while Solana is a general-purpose blockchain facilitating payments and supporting various trading applications. However, when looking at market value, Solana appears larger at around $72.8 billion compared to Hyperliquid's approximately $23.4 billion.
However, this discrepancy is largely due to the fact that most of Hyperliquid's tokens are still locked, with only about 251 million of its 952 million total tokens in circulation. The remaining tokens are set to be released through scheduled unlocks to the team and early investors, which could significantly impact the market.
When considering total token supply, Hyperliquid actually surpasses Solana's fully diluted valuation at around $89 billion, compared to Solana's $73 billion. To double in value by 2030, Hyperliquid would need its tokens to rise to about $177 billion, while Solana would need to reach approximately $146 billion.
