Hyperliquid's (HYPE) price moved by 3.88 percentage points over the last 18 hours, driven by a mix of buyback and supply catalysts.

The protocol's aggressive buyback architecture and Assistance Fund purchases are key drivers behind this move. The Assistance Fund has bought 25,000 HYPE tokens at around $81.6 each, bringing its total holdings to approximately $1.2 billion under its buyback and burn strategy.

According to recent reports, Hyperliquid and Pump.fun account for nearly 90% of a record $638 million in 2026 crypto token buybacks, with Hyperliquid routing roughly 99% of 'eligible fees' into the Assistance Fund to buy and burn HYPE. This is on top of the existing fee-driven buyback mechanism.

Additionally, large staking withdrawals and upcoming unlocks are also contributing to the volatility in HYPE's price. Around $208 million worth of tokens is set to exit the large staking withdrawal queue over six days, concentrated among big stakers and protocol-related addresses.
