Hyperliquid Unleashes Native Lending Amidst HYPE Token Surge
Hyperliquid has introduced native manual borrowing to its platform, allowing users to borrow USDC and USDT against HYPE or Bitcoin collateral. This new feature extends Hyperliquid's trading infrastructure into credit and complements existing financial functions available within its core infrastructure.
The launch comes as the HYPE token reached a fresh all-time high above $90, with an intraday high of about $91.06 on Friday. The token has risen roughly 15% this week.
Hyperliquid's founder, Jeff Yan, explained that they built borrowing and lending as a separate HyperCore primitive rather than embedding credit directly into margin accounts. This design allows the system to keep lending risk separate from derivatives exposure.
The new product exposes lending infrastructure that had largely operated beneath Hyperliquid's portfolio-margin system, giving users access to more than $400 million of supplied liquidity from the outset. The $269 million reported as borrowed on Friday indicates the scale of the underlying credit market.
