Hyperliquid has unveiled new features for its HIP-3 framework that will enable permissioned markets. This optional extension allows independent deployment teams to create permissioned markets using on-chain allowlists while retaining control over access and operations.

The upgrade remains optional and will not alter existing HIP-3 markets, allowing teams that do not require permissioned access to continue operating under the current framework. The first version of HIP-3 has already been released on testnet, although its specifications remain preliminary and could change following feedback.

Hyperliquid's co-founder Jeffrey Yan stated that deployers or their appointed sub-deployers will manage these lists, giving individual operators control over who can access their markets. This allows market operators to restrict market participation when their operations require access controls.
