A phishing attack targeting Hyperliquid users in August resulted in one user losing 550,019 USDC (approximately $550,000).

The attackers used Google Search advertisements with Hyperliquid-related keywords to trick a user into visiting a fake website.

Once on the site, the attacker was able to transfer funds from the user's wallet without compromising the Hyperliquid platform itself.

This is not the first time a search ad-based crypto phishing attack has occurred, with over 356 malicious advertising URLs targeting cryptocurrency wallets and platforms discovered by the Security Alliance (SEAL).
