Hyperliquid Whale Locks in $45M Profit After Scaling Back Massive BTC and ETH Longs
A whale investor on Hyperliquid, the world's largest decentralized perpetual futures exchange, has secured a massive profit after partially unwinding its long position. The investor held a $537 million exposure, but reduced it to $143 million by closing a 120,000 ETH long position and trimming 1,200 BTC from a 3,000 BTC long.
The move resulted in realized gains of $45.3 million, with the investor securing an additional $32.77 million from the closure of its ETH position and $12.53 million from the reduction of its BTC long. The remaining 1,800 BTC long has an unrealized profit of $21.08 million.
The whale's decision to reduce risk comes during a period of mixed sentiment in the broader cryptocurrency market. While Bitcoin and Ethereum have seen substantial recoveries from recent lows, the persistence of high leverage across exchanges remains a concern for some analysts.
