Hyperliquid’s Singapore HQ Confirmed but Regulatory Status Unclear
Hyperliquid Labs has confirmed its headquarters are in Singapore, but the city-state’s regulator, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), takes a different stance. According to a Financial Times report, MAS considers Hyperliquid outside its jurisdiction due to the platform’s decentralized structure. Sources close to the regulator stated that the platform should not be seen as Singapore-based because of its decentralized nature.
The key question revolves around regulatory oversight rather than just the company’s registration. Hyperliquid Labs confirmed to the Financial Times that its headquarters are in Singapore, and company documents reviewed by the newspaper also list Singapore as its registered base. However, MAS’s position focuses on the platform’s operations, which the regulator views as outside its jurisdiction.
Hyperliquid has clarified that it is not licensed or authorized by MAS and has never claimed otherwise. The company also stated it would continue to engage constructively with regulators. This distinction between the company’s headquarters and the platform’s regulatory status is crucial, especially for investors dealing with futures.
