Hyperscale Data Cuts Ties to Bitcoin Mining Amid AI Data Center Push
Hyperscale Data, Inc., a company that owns and operates a data center in Michigan, has ceased its Bitcoin mining operations at the facility. This decision is part of the company's efforts to fulfill the requirements of a master services agreement with a California-based neocloud provider.
The master services agreement, worth approximately $1.2 billion over 10 years with two five-year extension options, will see Hyperscale Data deploy 20 megawatts of power at the facility for AI data center infrastructure. If the customer exercises its option to add an additional 32 megawatts, the total contract revenue could exceed $3 billion.
The company believes that this remaining capacity represents substantial potential beyond the existing agreement and provides Hyperscale Data with the opportunity to continue expanding the Facility as demand for AI computing infrastructure grows. The move is expected to enable the development of approximately 80% of the expected power capacity available for additional customers and future AI data center expansion.
