Hyperscale Data to Accumulate Silver as Strategic Reserve
Hyperscale Data, Inc. (GPUS), an AI data center company, has announced plans to accumulate up to 100,000 ounces of silver as part of a strategic treasury strategy. The move comes as the company aims to fortify its balance sheet, with silver viewed as a high-conviction, long-duration asset. Based on current spot rates, the total value of the silver acquisition could reach approximately $7.6 million. Milton Ault III, Executive Chairman of Hyperscale Data, emphasized the company's confidence in silver's role alongside Bitcoin in preserving optionality for future growth.
Hyperscale intends to fund the silver purchases through existing capital and other liquidity sources, employing a dollar-cost averaging approach. This strategy involves making gradual investments at regular intervals, regardless of market conditions. The company has previously used a similar method to build its Bitcoin holdings and is confident in securing appropriate storage and security solutions for the silver reserve.
Last week, Hyperscale launched an at-the-market equity offering program, allowing it to sell up to $35.4 million worth of its 13% Series D Cumulative Redeemable Perpetual Preferred stock. A significant portion of the net proceeds is earmarked for acquiring Bitcoin and precious metals, including gold, silver, and copper, with the remainder supporting working capital and general corporate needs. As of January 31, 2026, Hyperscale reported total assets of about $323 million and net assets of roughly $125 million.
Despite the positive pre-market trading activity, with shares jumping 7%, retail sentiment on Stocktwits remained bearish. Some users noted that high pre-market trading volume did not translate into a higher stock price, while others anticipated a near-60% jump from current levels. Year-to-date, the stock is down nearly 9%.
