Hyperscale Ditches Bitcoin Mining for Lucrative AI Deal
Hyperscale Data has halted Bitcoin mining operations at its Michigan data center to accommodate an AI customer whose contract could generate over $1.2 billion in revenue over two decades.
The agreement, which covers 20 megawatts of capacity for a California-based cloud computing services provider, also includes options for the customer to add up to 32 megawatts within the first two years.
Hyperscale plans to sell its mining servers and expects gains from those sales as it prepares the facility for AI operations.
The company's CEO, William Horne, believes that this shift will benefit shareholders, citing the data center's market capitalization currently trading at a significant discount compared to other companies in the industry.
