Hyperscale Shuts Down Michigan Bitcoin Mining for AI Data Center
Hyperscale Data has shut down its Bitcoin mining operations at a Michigan facility to make way for an artificial intelligence data center customer.
The company announced on Wednesday that all Bitcoin miners were switched off after an inspection by a California-based neocloud provider, and the associated mining equipment will be sold.
Hyperscale intends to sell the equipment as it prepares the Michigan site for its new AI customer, which has contracted for 20 megawatts of computing capacity under a 10-year master services agreement with optional extensions.
The agreement is expected to generate over $1.2 billion in revenue over the maximum 20-year term, but this estimate depends on the customer exercising both extension options.
