IBIT's Dominance Faces Challenge as Fee Competition Heats Up
The Bitcoin ETF market is dominated by BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which holds a massive $59.87 billion in assets under management, dwarfing Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) with just $13.24 billion.
This scale gives IBIT the power to dictate liquidity trends during periods of extreme volatility and dominate market flows. While both funds have a 0.25% expense ratio, the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust (MSBT) entered the scene in April 2026 with a significantly lower fee of 0.14%, putting pressure on the established leaders.
The Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust (BTC) also offers a lower fee of 0.15%. This new competition has led to predictions that IBIT and FBTC will eventually abandon their current pricing structures to prevent further erosion of market share.
