IBM Bridges Blockchain Ledger with Tokenized Asset Platform for Banks
IBM has expanded its digital banking infrastructure by linking its Digital Asset Haven custody and tokenization platform to Swift's blockchain-based shared ledger. The connection is facilitated through a new ISO 20022 Messaging Adapter, which allows banks to initiate and settle tokenized deposit transactions using the same standardized messaging format they already use for conventional payments.
The adapter speaks ISO 20022, enabling banks to route tokenized deposit transactions through the same compliance, sanctions-screening, and reconciliation processes used on traditional payment rails. This integration addresses how tokenized assets move between institutions.
IBM has also opened an on-premises beta of Digital Asset Haven, allowing institutions to run the platform within their own IBM Z or LinuxONE data centers. This self-hosted deployment option addresses concerns around regulatory, security, and internal-policy requirements for custodied digital assets.
