IBM Brings Tokenized Deposits to Swift's Blockchain Ledger
IBM has released a beta ISO 20022 messaging adapter that connects its Digital Asset Haven platform to Swift's blockchain-based shared ledger for tokenized-deposit transactions. The adapter allows financial institutions to use standard payment messages to initiate activity on the ledger, linking tokenized-deposit workflows with existing payment-messaging and settlement arrangements.
The adapter is part of a beta on-premises deployment of Digital Asset Haven for IBM Z and LinuxONE, which lets clients manage stablecoins and tokenized deposits without relying on public-cloud infrastructure. The deployment keeps asset controls in-house, with cryptographic keys remaining in the client environment and protected by IBM Crypto Express hardware-security modules.
The integration between Digital Asset Haven and Swift's shared ledger does not alter the division of transaction instructions, digital assets, and final settlement. Transaction instructions can be made through ISO 20022 messages, digital assets can move on the shared ledger at any time, and final settlement remains routed through current systems.
