IBM Integrates Digital Asset Haven with Swift's Blockchain Ledger
IBM has integrated its Digital Asset Haven platform with Swift's blockchain-based shared ledger to facilitate tokenized deposit transactions. This integration allows clients of IBM's Digital Asset Haven to connect to permissioned blockchain networks and participate in emerging digital asset networks.
The new beta ISO 20022 messaging adapter enables institutions to instruct tokenized deposit transactions through the ledger using standard payment messages, without requiring blockchain-specific workflows.
IBM claims that financial institutions participating in Swift's program have already tested tokenized deposits on the ledger using Digital Asset Haven. The shared ledger supports bank-issued tokenized deposits and allows for 24/7 movement of digital assets, with final settlement taking place through existing systems.
Additionally, IBM is extending its Digital Asset Haven platform to an on-premises beta deployment option for clients who prefer to manage their digital assets without relying on public cloud infrastructure. This new option can be installed on IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE in a client's own data center, using the same architecture and APIs as the existing SaaS and hybrid options.
According to Tom McPherson, general manager of IBM Z and LinuxONE, 'The financial services industry is entering a new era where tokenized and traditional assets will need to move side by side.' He notes that this integration and on-premises deployment option are helping clients participate in emerging digital asset networks while prioritizing control over their most critical financial operations.
